Projects

Outside of making money (photography and website/graphic design) I always have a few little bits on the side. Women, websites... You know, just to keep me entertained.

Currently I'm working on two projects: ARMUD and Foster's Army. I'll start with the project that I can actually talk about... Foster's Army.

Foster's Army is a little quintet (that's five) of geeks currently studying for a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Computer Games & Internet Technology at the University of Essex. The Army comprises of Jamie, David, Paul, Darryl and myself. Basically, we all want to succeed in the games industry after our degree, but breaking into the games industry is becoming significantly more difficult as the games industry grows larger, where once you simply had to 'show an interest in games' to gain a placement at games development house, you now 'have to have shipped two titles'.

This is kind of hard for students just leaving university, so... we thought we'd form a little group to work on projects, bounce ideas around, and ultimately develop a game together (hopefully!) Even if we don't, the idea is that we'd at least produce something cool for our final year projects (this coming year, 2004-2005).

You can find us on the UoE IRC server, #fostersarmy, if you want to chat! We're a friendly bunch.

Which brings me neatly onto ARMUD... my final year project for my degree. I can't really discuss much about it until I actually have a working, public version. But let's just say that it's a MUD (multi-user domain), and the letters 'AR' stand for Augmented Reality. I'm quite excited about it and it may turn out rather cool... I will definitely keep the primary domain (armud.co.uk) updated!
